Enhance Hospital Preparedness

This course provides an introduction to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) preparedness and response for medical and healthcare facility personnel at all levels. Emphasis is placed on understanding CBRN hazards, response frameworks, and the integration of medical operations within incident management systems. Participants will examine the roles and responsibilities of medical staff during CBRN incidents, including recognition of contamination, implementation of protective measures, coordination of decontamination and triage operations, and continuity of care in a contaminated environment.

This two-hour, self-paced course consists of the following modules:

1. Chemical Agents
2. Biological Agents
3. Radiological Hazards

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

•Identify CBRN threats and the hazards to medical staff

•Recognize and describe signs/symptoms associated with exposure to CBRN hazards

•Describe process for notifying leadership and immediate actions in the case of a CBRNE incident based upon the EOP

•Identify various protective measures for medical staff from CBRN hazards in the environment and contaminated casualties

•Explain decontamination methods based on the CBRNE hazard

•Recognize challenges with treating contaminated casualties
